Calcium

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body and can be found in several different sources and also serves multiple purposes. It is responsible for aiding in contraction of the heart and widening of the arteries to assist with blood flow to the muscles and nerves. There are many statements that suggest calcium is responsible for sustaining bone mass and density as well. As we age bone begins to decay and stored calcium is needed to maintain our biological functions so this makes exercise and adequate calcium supplementation that much more important.

Sources of calcium include: dietary supplements, dairy (such as milk, cheeses and yogurts.) It also can be found in vegetables like kale, broccoli and turnip greens.
