Side Pattern

Why do NexGen Fitness trainers always ask about your cardio?  What is cardio and why is it so important?

Cardio, or more accurately cardiovascular, exercise simply means that you’re doing a rhythmic activity that raises your heart rate.  Cardio can increase your metabolism, the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy, for up to 48 hours after your workout – which means more deficit during weight loss stages. There are many other reasons that regular cardio workouts are important to your overall health.  Cardiovascular workouts strengthen your heart and lungs; thereby increasing your endurance, meaning you can complete more, which in turn helps you burn more calories.  It can also decrease your risk for developing heart issues or diseases directly related to your cardiovascular health. In addition, regular cardio exercise can minimize symptoms of depression and decreases your risk of developing certain cancers, stomach problems and diabetes.

So, the next time you head into NexGen plan on coming early or staying late for a good cardio workout in addition to your personal training session, and enjoy some of these great benefits.  Not to mention making your trainer smile!
