Chia Seeds – super food?
Personal trainer explains the benefits…
So you know those goofy commercials with the catchy song Cha-Cha-Cha-Chia! You know the ones with the different characters that you can grow grass-looking hair on? Well what if I told you that the main component of that product – the seeds they use – are actually a super food of sort? Well the fact is that they are! Using chia in your food prep can have significant positive results. Among them being weight loss, hydration and satiation, and even reducing blood pressure. Chia seeds help prevent food cravings by actually blocking the absorption of some of the foods we eat. Chia seeds also absorb 10 times their weight in water, forming a gel inside the stomach, which makes us feel fuller faster and stay hydrated. Though one of the coolest attributes of chia seeds is that they actually contain the most Omega-3’s of any plant source, including flax seed, and even contain more than Salmon! This little super food can be eaten raw or added to cooked dishes if desired. Try taking in 1.5 ounces twice a day and you’re sure to see the benefits.
